國際傳媒廣泛報導有關香港終審法院栽定同志伴侶案配偶福利規定上訴成功的消息。香港中文大學性別研究課程教授孫耀東也就此問題接受了多間國際傳媒的採訪，其中包括BBC, 彭博(Bloomberg), 金融時報(Financial Times)等機構。

他表示: 「這宗案件有望帶來漣漪效應，改善香港社會對同志的看法，鼓勵香港企業也向同志員工提供與異性戀同等的福利。」
