Research Interest: feminist theories, gender and queer theory and politics, restorative justice, and nonviolence
Introduction: Dr. CHO Man-kit Joseph, aka siu CHO, received his PhD in Gender Studies in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interest is about the formation of sexual modernity and queer theory. He has been active in the local LGBTQ activism and is currently the executive co-director of Nu Tong Xue She, a Hong Kong-based LGBTQ group. Dr. Cho is a vice-editor of the Chinese Sexual Rights Research, an annual journal published by the World Association of Chinese Sexologists. He has been appointed by the HKSAR Government to the Advisory Group on Eliminating Discrimination against Sexual Minorities.

Research Interest: Youth studies, lesbian sexuality, Hong Kong history, popular culture, film and new media
Introduction:

Dr. Sonia Wong Yuk Ying obtained her PhD in Cultural Studies at Lingnan University in 2017, and now teaches Gender Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include lesbian identity, female sexuality, film, new media and local history. 

In 2013, she founded Reel Women Hong Kong, the first and only independent film festival in Hong Kong devoted to the promotion of female-created films and art works, as well as gender equality and awareness, in society. In 2018, she founded the first Women’s Festival in Hong Kong with Eaton HK and Sally Coco, aiming at further popularising gender consciousness and diversity. 

Apart from being an activist and academic, she is a poet, writer, and visual artist. Her writings on gender and sexualities are frequently featured in local media.

Introduction:

Ling Han is an Assistant Professor in Gender Studies Programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is a sociologist researching on the intersection of gender, technology, and social innovation. She obtained her PhD from the University of California, San Diego and was awarded a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (Stanford PACS) to research and manage the China Social Innovation Program. She got her BA in Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and MA in China Studies and Sociology from Tsinghua University. Prior to joining CUHK, she was a Research Fellow at the Asia Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy (ACSEP), helming the research thrust on social innovation & social entrepreneurship at the National University of Singapore Business School and also worked as a researcher for Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). She leads research initiatives to compare the institutions, organizations, and actors that drive social innovation education and social entrepreneurship in Asia. She also co-leads the global comparatve project on the Civic Life of Cities Lab-Singapore with Stanford University and INSEAD. She has extensive collaboration experiences with foundations, nonprofit organizations, corporate philanthropies, and impact investors in China and Southeast Asia. She serves as an academic advisor and a regular contributor for Stanford Social Innovation Review China (斯坦福社会创新评论) and co-founded the Asia Academic Social Innovators Forum in 2021. She leads the research cluster on Gender and Digital Wellbeing.
