"Gender Studies allows us to uncover the hidden issues of race, class, and religion, etc., through the lens of gender."

Talking about Gender Studies, many people think that it is only about gender. In fact, Gender Studies allows us to uncover the hidden issues of race, class, and religion, etc., through the lens of gender. These social factors are deeply intertwined, affecting every individual's social role and socio-cultural and economic status.

The reasons why I chose to continue studying Gender Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong even after studying it for four years in Canada are twofold. First, I feel that there is still a lot worth exploring in depth in this field. Second, I want to change my perspective and learn more about the development and current situation of Gender Studies in Asia. Fortunately, I got what I wanted.

Studying in 2019-2020 is difficult for us. We the class of 2020 are teased by being called "the heavenly chosen". But it was exactly this “unique" experience that made me even more aware of the practicality and necessity of Gender Studies in social practice. In the one year of postgraduate study, we did well in integrating knowledge we learned in class with current affairs, and we have learned to analyze changes around us from a diversified and critical perspective and cultivated empathy with others and the entire society.
