Prof Fanny Cheung received the Denmark-Gunvald Award 2020

Former Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, Choh-Ming Li Professor of Psychology and one of the founding members of Gender Studies Programme, Prof Fanny Cheung received the Denmark Gunvald Award from the International Council of Psychologists in 2020.

The Denmark-Gunvald Award for Feminist Research and Service (details can be found here: https://icpweb.org/awards/denmark-gunvald-award/ ) is presented to honor a psychologist who has a history of research and service that directly benefits the health, promotion and well-being of women in the world.

We feel very proud that Prof Cheung has got this well-deserved recognition for her pioneering work and it places CUHK psychology and gender research in the international map.

The award was presented at the Awards Ceremony via Zoom during the ICP Conference on Sunday, December 13th at 3:30 pm EST. Prof Cheung’s acceptance speech is now available to download until the end of December. You may click this link to download:

Publication: Older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans People: Minding the Knowledge Gaps

Prof. Suen Yiu Tung of Gender Studies Programme has co-edited the book Older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans People: Minding the Knowledge Gaps, published by Routledge.

This book reports on a project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, which aimed to address gaps in knowledge about older LGBT people and their experiences of ageing. Hardback and eBook copy are available, for more information, please click here.

20th Anniversary Alumni Gala Lunch of Gender Studies Programme

It is with great pride and honor that we announce the 20th Anniversary of CUHK Gender Studies Programme. This is a wonderful milestone. From 1997 to 2017, there have been countless stories of success from across all of the programs including full-time and part-time MA, MPhil, PhD and our recently established undergraduate programme.  

To celebrate this special occasion, we are proud to announce the 20th Anniversary Alumni Gala Lunch which will be held on March 3, 2018 (Sat). Our founding members and longtime supporters of Gender Studies Programme Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-vice Chancellor of CUHK and Dr. Angela Wong, previous Graduate Division Head of Gender Studies Programme will also be attending the gathering.

This is a valuable opportunity for all of us to meet with classmates, alumni and professors over a delicious lunch and to take photos throughout the afternoon.
