In celebration of the International Women’s Day (8 March), Ms. Louise Bergholm, Consul General of Sweden to HK and Macau, together with Prof. Ivy Wong, Director of the Gender Studies Programme (GSP), CUHK, and Mr. Benjamin Meunier, University Librarian, CUHK, officially launched the exhibition on the 7 March.ย With 30 attendees at the ceremony, the event was a great success!

Together with Ms. Bergholm and Prof. Wong, Prof. Jing Song, Associate Professor of the GSP, CUHK, and Ms. Anna Rydell, Head of Human Resources, Supply Chain, H&M HK joined the panel discussion, shared their views on how gender roles in professional settings can be reshaped. They covered areas such as childrenโs perceptions, entrepreneurship, DEI initiatives and the โsoft girlโ trend. Ms. Bergholm emphasised the importance of gender equality, highlighting its universal relevance. Prof. Wong highlighted that gender issues permeate everyone’s life. She stressed the impact of gender stereotypes on children from an early age, emphasising the need to pay closer attention to societal changes and draw inspiration from successful experiences in countries like Sweden to provide valuable insights.ย

Additionally, student representatives from the GSP shared their reflections after previewing the exhibition.ย
