In 1995, the United Nations held the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, and adopted the Beijing Platform for Action (#BPfA) covers 12 critical areas of concern, with strategic objectives and proposed actions for governments and other stakeholders at the national, regional, and international levels. It remains the most comprehensive policy framework and action blueprint for advancing women’s human rights and achieving gender equality globally.
To celebrate the International Women’s Day and the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action (” #Beijing+30 “), Hong Kong Women’s Coalition on Equal Opportunities and the Gender Studies Programme of The Chinese University of Hong Kong will organize the Seminar on the 30th Anniversary of Beijing Platform for Action, and co-organize the event with Mission for Migrant Workers and Zonta Club of Kowloon. The Seminar will appraise the implementation of BPFA in Hong Kong, examine emerging issues affecting women’s human rights, and discuss strategies to accelerate women’s human rights.
