Summer Workshop Description:
While digital innovation is often praised as the solution to contemporary and future wellness problems, the social inequalities contained in and reinforced through digital technologies are often not acknowledged. This summer workshop addresses this shortfall by asking how the development, design, and use of digital technologies interplay with gender and other social categories such as race, class, and sexuality to shape individual and societal well-being. From an interdisciplinary perspective, participants will participate in lectures, work together to reflect, identify, analyze, and address current challenges in international (digital) technology contexts.
Topics Covered:
Digital Innovation, Gender, Technology, and Well-Being (Ling Han, CUHK; Tara Mehrabi, Karlstad)
Privacy, Vulnerability, and Marginalized Population (Agnieszka Kitkowska, Karlstad)
Robotics, AI, and Emotions (TBC)
Gender and Big Data (Siqi Han, CUHK)
